Spanish Lesson: Greetings
Are you having trouble being able to speak Spanish with others? I’m talking about the real Spanish you would actually use, like “greetings”. This short will enable you to practice with others for Facebook Fiesta Friday and in real, person-to-person communication.
Here is a little vocabulary to get you started:
| Hi, my name is_____. | Hola, me llamo _____. |
| What’s your name? (formal) | ¿Cómo se llama usted? |
| What’s your name? (informal) | ¿Cómo te llamas? |
| How are you? (formal) | ¿Cómo está usted? |
| How are you? (informal) | ¿Cómo estás? |
| How are things? | ¿Qué tal? |
| I am doing well, thanks, and you? (formal) | Estoy bien, gracias. ¿y usted? |
| I am doing well, thanks, and you? (informal) | Estoy bien, gracias. ¿y tú? |
| Good morning. | Buenos días. |
| Good afternoon. | Buenas tardes. |
| Good evening. | Buenas noches. |
| Nice to meet you. | Mucho gusto. |
| See you later. | Hasta luego. |
There are plenty more free Spanish greetings where that came from. It seems like I write this almost every time, but have a positive attitude as you learn Spanish. You can have fun, especially as you practice your Spanish greetings and meet new people. Believe it or not, meeting new people in a new language can be fun. I know from experience.
